Pontrobert Village Hall.

The Hall first opened in 1981 & since then a series of improvements has been made. After some problems a whole new roof was fitted. The kitchen has been refitted the latest addition being a commercial dishwasher & stainless steel preparation tables together with new crockery. The hall also has a sound system & hearing loop. More recently new comfortable chairs have been purchased. Thanks to a generous donation a new meeting room was built off the main hall & connects with the kitchen. The Wales Assembly Government assisted us in extending the hall from the entrance foyer. This has given us a separate toilet for the disabled together with new ladies & gents toilets. This extension enabled us to create a new room on the first floor intended as a computer room. From the entrance foyer there is a staircase fitted with a stair lift.

Recently we were successful in obtaining a computer under the BT Community Connections Scheme. They also assisted us in installing a phone line & Broadband. We have been successful too in obtaining assistance from the Enterprising Community Buildings Scheme administered by PAVO. This has enabled us to buy a further 5 computers. These are currently being set up & we will be starting training courses on Tuesday 4th September 1.30 – 3.30pm & also 7.30 – 9.30pm whichever is more suitable for you. The courses will run over 10 weeks & are “A Basic Introduction to Computers for Beginners”. There is a small charge of £2.50 per lesson. Mrs Rose Forshaw on 01938 500345 is co-ordinating the courses & will take your booking. We anticipate a lot of interest & additional courses may also be run. Later there are ideas for courses on “Using the Internet”, “Graphics”, “Digital Photography” & “Genealogy” – Watch this space!
